Welcome to Bay Bua Vietnamese restaurant and bar
BAY BUA – 7 MEALS
VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT & BAR
Bar Licensed & BYO
Mai Tran brings to Potts Point in Sydney an excellence in fine dining learnt from her grandfather, Mr Tinh Tran. Mr Tran had been the personal chef for Mr Tran Khiem Thien during his time as the Vietnamese Ambassador to both Taiwan and the United States and throughout his time as the Prime Minister of the Republic of South Vietnam (1969 – 1975).
Mr Tinh Tran used his talents to offer the best of Vietnamese and French cuisine to entertain the minister cabinet, visiting diplomats and special national guests. After arriving in Australia Mr Tinh Tran eventually opened the Bay Tinh restaurant and had patrons coming from far and wide sample his beautiful cooking. Mr Tran has now retired but Mai Tran, his granddaughter, Ngan Do (The main chef) who cooked with him for more than 18 years, have carried on this tradition and moved the family business to the ground floor of Springfield Tower in Potts Point.
The restaurant is beautiful located, away from the noise of Kings Cross and facing the leafy Springfield Gardens. As reported in “Sydney Eats”, enticing, delicious smells greet you as you step through the glass door into this modern, high-ceilinged space.
The “Good Food Guide 2009” says to expect good value bonfire beef and prawns, pork-stuffed calamari, addictively crisp quail, fragrant curries and bounteous egg and rice noodle stir-fries, all served with a gentle smile.
Even though the menu has been perfected over generations Mai still introduces new dishes every couple of weeks, making sure that her customers keep on having a different experience. Her aim is to offer variety and luxury dining at an affordable price. The modest, yet pleasing, wine menu is enhanced with an excellent cocktail list. The cocktails are brilliantly prepared by Mai’s sister, Xuan. There are also beautiful desserts to end your oriental affair sweetly. Parties, functions and wedding are all most welcome to book. The restaurant can seat up to 110 people inside and up to 46 people alfresco.
